Lol Tenza and Nurugai look like they'll be a fun pair to watch, I thought Tenza was going to die to make sure Nurugai lives and she'll escape on her own but nice to see they both lived.

Nurugai being a girl was a surprise and seeing how she has already suggested they get married was amusing. Tenza also being chivalrous himbo makes for fun reactions. I hope neither die too quickly because I want to see more of their interactions.

Looks like Genji is going to die before the woman he claimed was so unsuited for the island. I thought he was plainly concerned for her at first but then it just became him fixated on her being a woman, he clearly looked down on her and summed her existence for just child bearing.

I am glad Senta at least sees that she's an important individual in keeping Gabimaru in check.

I agree, I was smiling like an idiot when tenza and nurugai were on screen.

Sprayquaza • 1 year ago

I like the fact that tenza is voiced by natsuki subaru's , makes his weird heroic but dumb impulses seem all the more credible "PTSD kicks in"

Genji definitely doesn’t believe in gender equality lol

Vii X • 1 year ago

Da.m.n. Nurugai got attractive. When she grows up, I bet she'll be a real bombshell. All she had to do was let her hair down and wash up. I ship her with her samurai. I assume she's prolly 16? So in two years. This series: Hidden loli, crouching badass. Cause, Gabimaru. He kinda reminds me of Gabiru as well. Seems kinda lame, but is actually fairly epic.

Tan girl for the win bois.

Tegan • 12 months ago

She isn't black, she's one of the native peoples of Japan whose ancestors lived on the islands before the Yamato people (modern day Japanese) settled there and took over.
It's common for anime artists to draw the native peoples as darker than the other cast members because racism but also because many of the native ethnic groups are visibly darker than an average modern Japanese person.
With her skin color and her hair texture, she's most likely to be from the southern islands where her people would have had contact with polynesian natives who aslo have darker skin and textured hair.

She's black not tanned I wish people would stop calling black anime characters tanned

serotonin • 1 year ago

She's asian, not black. I wish people would stop calling obviously asian characters black to satisfy their uncontrollable desire for black representation. Asian people can have naturally curly hair and tanned skin from sunlight. If you want black anime characters, there are plenty to choose from in different animes. I recommend Black lagoon. There you go, you found your real black representation. Please stop blackwashing us asians. We arent just a race to be subbed out for black people as you see fit. Thanks for you consideration.

Yanni D Ha-Diya • 1 year ago

Asian roots com from south east Africa she black Asian you can call her afro Asian if you there are black Asians
Colored Asian

serotonin • 1 year ago

Buddy, all of humanity comes from africa. Are we all black now? Quit reaching so far. That is an asian. They are born and raised in Asia with Asian parents and grandparents and great-grandparents. You people are delusional if you think this is valid logic.

Information came from black book

Wow. You are now accusing all asian people of hating dark skin just because I pointed out casual racial erasure. Who is the real racist here? I did indeed just correct them because they were indeed blackwashing. They literally are labelling an asian character as black when it could not be more obvious that it is just a tanned japanese girl. On top of that, they had to act all pretentious and righteous about it when they were 100 percent wrong. If you don't like my attitude, note that I was just mirroring their comment's attitude to demonstrate irony. Black people aren't the only ones with dark skin and curly hair, but you would think otherwise it seems.

Ami Na • 12 months ago

there is black asian as well

Nuewwou • 1 year ago

Claiming that characters are black if they aren't designed to be copy/paste light complexion is east asian and southeast asian erasure. The sanka people were an actual thing.

Lol, she's a japanese living in the mountains. She's not black. Stop putting your color in every chances you get

Sprayquaza • 1 year ago

I dont think black asian people exist tho , not in this period of time for sure.

brat quack • 1 year ago

I don't think realism is really a point to be used when the anime clearly has humanoid creatures and butterflies with human heads. in any case she clearly has darker skin and afro hair

Nuewwou • 1 year ago

It's a historical fiction with fantasy elements and there's no way she's black or blasian. It doesn't fit the context. She's no Yasuke. Nurugai's inclusion does do is allude to a historical 'untouchables' caste that lived nomad style. She's just a bandit-esque mountain child that grew up in a different culture and environment compared to much of the surviving cast.

It's hard to read her as black if you've seen/met enough asians.

serotonin • 1 year ago

Newsflash, east asians can have tanned skin too (from this wonderful thing called sunlight)! And also curly hair, but apparently that is only exclusive to black people since you said so! Gee, I guess all curly haired tan asians will have to just stop existing. I get wanting to have black representation, but there is a such thing as wanting it so bad that you start to warp an obviously asian character into a black one. The author chose edo period japan as a historical setting, then added fantasy elements (something called historical fiction). I highly doubt that his historical setting includes adding black people to a remote mountain village in Japan. Anime characters sometimes look european too, but nobody is calling them white, because they obviously aren't (they live in Japan??). Point being, these are asians: stop pretending they aren't.

Chryslr • 12 months ago

There's always a point of realism in Animes, especially if it depicts a certain period of History, this took place in Japan during the Shogunate period which depicts people that lived during those time. Yes, there's mysticism and supernatural monsters involved in here, but the humans are based off of that said time period.

You know that much of this is taken from Buddhism and Taoism, right?

bro what the fuck are you talking about, black asians exist

Zack D. • 1 year ago

And big ass monsters didn’t exist in that period of time lmao

serotonin • 1 year ago

It's not hard to figure out that they aren't black. I'm sure you want them to be, but I highly, highly doubt that a child from an isolated mountain village of Edo period japan would have any african blood in them. And hate to break it to you but asians can have curly hair and tan skin too. As much as black people in anime is cool, please limit your inclusion to characters that are actually black instead of black-washing asians (I am asian, I feel offended). Thank you for you consideration.

miss_otaku_herself • 1 year ago

I'm not black washing anybody but have you noticed that the asians you speak of are really rare? Also Edo period wasn't isolated from the world (thus why edo period did have some rare black people) both possiblities are unlikely but both possiblites are an option that's all i'm saying. You really shouldn't be offended by facts and history. You know what just to make things more fun she could be indigenous too! I just highly doubt that she is the tanner version of your typical ethinic wajin japanese as most people want to believe (and what the original comment seemed to believe). That's my argument cause that way of thinking erases the true diversity of Japanese people. Also, If you actually read what I said, I said "it was rare but still happened", I was speculating cause I'm tryna tell people "hey not every dark person is just a tan version of wajin people maybe there is more to it". If you got the impression that I was trying to do otherwise I apologize but that was not the moral of the story.

serotonin • 1 year ago

If you were watching the anime you would know that the character in question is from an ISOLATED VILLAGE IN THE MOUNTAINS. Black-Asians did exists, but only in port cities where Africans had chances to interact with Asians. Not trying to deny their existence, but you are just wrong, plain and simple. No African trader in Edo period Japan is gonna wander into the Japanese wilderness and have children with some woman in a remote village in the middle of nowhere that even Shogunate officials do not know the location of. Odds are that they are more closely related to the Ainu people than Africans if we are talking about genetics. A village of Blasians in Edo Japan wilderness is an impossibility.

miss_otaku_herself • 1 year ago

Hmmm what your saying makes sense. She is most likely Indigenous then. It's still hard to believe that afro hair was common amongst Ainus but then again it can be any indigenous groups that inhabited Japan prior like the original okinawans in the south. Then again it might also be the authors creative liberty. I would actually prefer if she was Indigenous though for it would mean representation of Japan's not so discussed ethnic groups.

xXPORTALXx • 1 year ago

I'm sorry but this is fucking hilarious to me, the obviously racist ppl whom clearly think asians can't be dark calling out others as racist lmfao we truly live in an age eh?

Man, black people really love blackwashing everything every single chance they get. Anime is made in Japan. Get that to your thick skull. I'm Asian too and I feel offended

Zack D. • 1 year ago

White ppl love whitewashing everything…and you’re Asian the ad y’all make of the black man going into a washing machine and coming out white.. and let’s be honest I guys are hate ppl who are tanned in ur race because u feel the paler u are the more beautiful u are… plus Asian stealing black ppl music and just adding stuff in it and calling there’s like they made and nobody said anime was not made in Japan…and again they just made that statement of that person being black cause of their complexion and yet again tan Asian are not well known due to Asian ppl being racist against them thinking that the paler or whiteish u are the better

Yeah lol, here comes the race wars. I'm not pale nor tanned coz I have a fair skin. I'm an Asian with fair skin from birth and I'm more attracted to tanned girls. Stop stereotyping, by the way if we talk about stealing no way we Asians are good at it. You know that to yourself LMAO

You just got triggered coz we all know that we're currently in an era where media loves blackwashing.

Zack D. • 1 year ago

You literally just stated black people love black washing stuff and u talking about race wars…hypocrite much

Because you really are, you people always love playing the victim card

Zack D. • 12 months ago

You ppl love playing the victim tf…whose the racist now ..you Asians love still shit to probably hate ur own kind more than anyone…i mean you guys racist as hell so that doesn’t surprise me at all

" let’s be honest I guys are hate ppl who are tanned in ur race because u feel the paler u are the more beautiful u are"
"tan Asian are not well known due to Asian ppl being racist against them" the irony lol. News flash everyone in asian knows there are billions of them. Seems like you are the only one without knowledge and explaining asians what asians are like. You also seem to think there are only east asians. There are south asians, south east asians etc. Im a south east with fair skin. My fri has afro with tan skin. Is he black now lol.

Zack D. • 1 year ago

No one was calling ur friend black just cause his ass tan like I said y’all blow this way out …the comment the guy made at top yall could hv just said bruh she is tanned asian and move on but y’all had to be condescending about it and yes I do know about and yes it’s well known most Asians don’t like tanned Asians

Optimum pride • 1 year ago

And the washing machine ad you talk about was a chinese ad. Did you really think china was the whole asia lol.
